Can't find time to
walk on the treadmill because you have too much yard work to do?
IT'S OK!!!!!
Raking, gardening,
digging in the dirt and "power-cleaning" the garage burns
about 300 calories per hour for a 150 pound person. If you're
really moving quickly this increases to 300-400 per hour. Every
100 calories is the same as walking a mile.
If you're over 150
pounds you'll burn more and if you're under 150 pounds you'll burn a
bit less. The more mass you have to move, the more calories you
burn. (Is this the only good thing about carrying extra weight?)
For some people,
it's easy to exercise when you see the results of your work, such as a
nicely manicured lawn, gorgeous flowers, and a neat garage.
So enjoy the warmer
temperatures, unplug the treadmill and go outside. Remember to
keep your water bottle close.
You can always go
for a walk in the evening (burn off that dinner) and check out the
neighbor's yard to get ideas...or just enjoy that winter is over.
