A recent Consumer Reports survey of more than 32,000 dieters reveals the tried- and- true secrets to losing weight and keeping it off:

8 out of 10 weight loss maintainers got moving at least three times a week. Walking was the most popular exercise, but 29 percent also lifted weights. (See my tip last month on Maintaining Metabolism)
Another way to get in this daily activity is to include it in your daily routines. Walk, bike or don’t move your car to do some errands if possible, take the stairs, park farther in the lots, and power clean a room in your house. (You can burn some calories cleaning my house!)
