Exercise Tip
(holiday ideas too?)
Collage video (1-800-433-6769 or www.collagevideo.com
) is a wonderful catalogue of exercise videos that I have mentioned before. There is a section in the back that has cassettes of your favorite tunes at your favorite pace. Each tape gives you a full 60 minutes or music at a perfectly steady pace- no slowing down or speeding up to break your rhythm. Although not the original artists, these “sound-alike” recordings are very close. The beats per minute are consistent for both sides of the tape. Each cassette has 6-8 different speeds. The styles of music are Beach Party, Sergeant/Patriotic, Disco, Dance Club, Classical, 60’s and Christian. Collage also has gear to put your walkman in when you walk/run, stereo “earbuds” for sound, and pedometers. My clients that have these tapes absolutely love them. Enjoy!
Here is a conversion table if you don’t know your target heart rate, or you can do the calculation. 220- your age = maximum heart rate. Multiply this number by (.7 and .85). This is your target heart rate in beats per minute. It’s not entirely accurate however. Beta Blocker medications for high blood pressure affect heart rate significantly. See my Archived
