Calorie Burning Estimates Doing Pilates

These are estimates using the MET's list (Metabolic Equivalents) for similar activities.

First, convert your weight to Kilograms, by dividing your CURRENT weight in pounds by 2.2

200# = 90.0 kg
175# = 79.5 kg
150# = 68.2 kg
125# = 56.8 kg

Multiply Kilogram weight by the METS factor and that will tell you how many calories you burn if you do that activity continuously for 1 hour.

For mat/floor/ball work 4.5 METS
For barre work 6.0 METS
For the reformer 5.5 - 6 METS

So a 150 pound person doing barre work would look like this.
68.2 kg X 6 METS = 409 calories per hour
or 205 per 30 minutes.

These are just estimates, until more research can be done specifically to these activities.
You may really push it hard during the workout (which would be a MET or 2 higher) or you may be tired and kind of "skating/going through the motions" through a workout and it'll be a MET lower.
