LUPUS AFFECTS ABOUT 1.4
MILLION AMERICANS,
MOSTLY WOMEN. Lupus
symptoms can mimic other illnesses, and symptoms are sometimes
vague, and may come and go, so it can be difficult to diagnose.
With Lupus there is NO one test or symptom that says you do or
don't have an autoimmune disease.
Lupus symptoms can include achy, swollen joints, inflammation,
frequent fevers, extreme fatigue, skin rashes, anemia, sun
sensitivity, oral ulcers, seizures, hair loss, and more.
If symptoms alone don't point to a diagnosis, your doctor can
order one or more of several urine tests that may provide
further clues.
Scientists don't know exactly what causes lupus, but they
speculate there may be a genetic predisposition, and that some
other factor can trigger it such as infections, antibiotics,
ultraviolet light, extreme stress, and hormones.
